The Dark Side and Other Topics: April 13 and 14, 2016
Hi everyone,
Yesterday, we spent some time looking at the dark side of Manifest Destiny - how Americans reacted to new groups of people moving in, and what they thought of them. You jotted notes on a handout about what you saw and learned.
HOMEWORK: Write a brief reflection about what you learned and heard in class.
Today in class, you wrote a formative assessment paragraph. Do your best work and show me you understand how to use evidence well.
HOMEWORK: Finish your paragraph.

Getting Ready to Assess: April 12, 2016
Hey everyone,
Today in class, I announced that your TEST on the MANIFEST DESTINY ERA is going to be on FRIDAY. Please make sure you review your vocab and map, read over your Westward Movement packet, and have your note card on the Presidents of Manifest Destiny ready for Friday!
I collected practice paragraphs using concrete evidence at the beginning of class. Please make sure that you pass it in if you have not done so already.
Today in class, we did some vocab practice activities. You had a chance to get some info about the Presidents of Manifest Destiny in class. You can bring that info to the test on a 4x6 note card - no other information!
HOMEWORK: Watch the video on the Trail of Tears! Sign in as a student using your school Google account.

Finishing Our Use of Evidence Practice: April 11, 2016
In class today, we finished up our outlines to prepare for our practice paragraphs. Your homework tonight, if you did not finish in class, is to write up that paragraph in nice, neat, final form. Read the paragraph out loud and make sure it makes sense!! Later this week, you will have a formative assessment to write a paragraph with specific, factual evidence.
HWK: Finish practice paragraph! If you get that done in class, you can work ahead - see the assignment for Wednesday.

Today in class, we continued with the process of creating an overview of the textbook chapters associated with Westward Movement. I also highlighted what you need to keep and review from your packet o' assignments, so please keep hold of those.
HOMEWORK: Tonight, you have a reading and assignment to complete about technology and communication during the era of Westward Movement. The homework is described at the end of the reading. The links to the assignment and supporting info are below.
